da dobrowin: For Aston Villa, the news that the Premier League is now suspended until next month may not be the worst development.
da dobrowin: They are currently in 19th position in the table, two points adrift of 17th place. After spending over £100m during the summer, Dean Smith’s side have failed to live up to expectations amongst the elite, instead often lacking cohesion amongst their expensively assembled squad.
Whilst this season is in doubt, once things get back up and running, the transfer negotiations and plans for next season will also build-up again as clubs looks to bounce back as soon as possible.
According to The Shields Gazette, the Villans are already looking ahead, with them said to be interested in James Tavernier of Rangers.

Despite being born in Bradford, it is in Scotland where he has made his name. Since 2015, he has made 242 appearances for the Gers, helping them climb up from the Scottish Championship to the top-tier. Such has been his influence on the side, he has even been named the club’s captain.
There are questions over his defensive ability, but going forward he has plenty to offer. In his time at Ibrox, he has managed a huge 70 assists, including 20 in all competitions last term. This campaign, he already has 14.
Just six months ago, Rangers were asking for £15m for his services, but now he could be available for as little as £4m. Given he is 28, which is meant to be amongst the peak years of a player’s career, that could represent a substantial bargain for Villa. Mohamed Elmohamady is 32 already, meaning that a younger right-back/right wing-back may not go amiss.
The immediate future of football is in doubt, but the show will eventually go on. As the Midlands outfit prepare for that time, Suso could do a lot worse than taking Tavernier to Villa Park, especially for such a competitive price.
Meanwhile, this on-loan Villa man is showing Dean Smith what he is missing.
