According to a new report from The Telegraph, Leeds United goalkeeper Kiko Casilla could finally appear before the FA next week for a racism charge that dates all the way back to September 2019.
The player is alleged to have used racist language in an incident with former Charlton Athletic loanee Jonathan Leko during a game at The Valley but he is still denying the accusation.
The Telegraph go on to note that the FA are expected to hear from all parties involved – West Brom’s Leko, Casilla and players from both Leeds and Charlton and the hearing should be held over February 18th and 19th.
Upon hearing this update regarding their stopper, many fans were absolutely delighted and were wondering why it has taken so long for the player to appear before the FA in the first place.
Of course, the reason behind their enthusiasm over a case that could harm their own player is Casilla’s recent run of form. The goalie has been at fault for numerous mistakes throughout the campaign, with the last one gifting Brentford their goal in a 1-1 draw.
For that reason, they want to see him dropped and are even hoping for the punishment to be as long as possible. Some would even love to see him banned for the whole season…
One fan even suggested that Casilla getting banned would feel like an entirely new signing at this point – that’s how dire the goalkeeper situation has become at Elland Road.
Finally, some fans also believe that with him out of the way, Illan Meslier could finally get his long-overdue chance in the first team under Bielsa.
The youngster has so far only made one senior appearance in the FA Cup defeat against Arsenal.
In other news, one of Leeds’ biggest problems could only get worse if they fail to win promotion this season…
