Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is finally set to wave farewell to the Old Trafford faithful when Fiorentina travel to the Theatre of Dreams this week.

The 34-year-old shot stopper was never given a real goodbye at United, with his final appearance being a loss to rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final in 2023, shortly before his contract expired.

Now, the Spaniard is set to finally return to Old Trafford, and is expected to be met with a big reception from fans who never got the chance to wish him well before leaving the club. De Gea himself is looking forward to the pre-season match between United and Fiorentina, posting on X: "United Road. See you Saturday."
