da esoccer bet: Rangers have put themselves in strong positions in both the SPL and Europa League under manager Steven Gerrard.
da premier bet: With Gerrard at the helm, the Glasgow club are having a good season so far, and much of that has been down to striker Alfredo Morelos as well as the Liverpool legend.
In 12 SPL appearances, Morelos has found the back of the net on seven occasions to help fire his side to being two points away from rivals Celtic and Hearts who currently occupy first and second place. The 22-year-old, however, could have so easily been banging in goals for another outfit.
The Breakdown
Morelos, of course, arrived at Ibrox from Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi last summer but, according to a source close to the player who recently spoke to the Daily Record, the Colombian also had an offer from Spain, which would have been an ideal destination for the Spanish speaker.
“At the time Alfredo signed for Rangers there was an offer from Spain,” the unnamed source told the Daily Record. “But we felt Rangers was a much better option for the player.
“We felt that the style of football in Scotland would suit him really well. He’s a physical player, he works hard and obviously Rangers are a massive, massive club.”
Considering that and how little Rangers paid for £2.03m-rated (via Transfermarkt) Morelos in the end, his signing is looking like a coup right now.
By no means is he the complete forward, which no one would expect given his age and the divisions he has played in.
But at Rangers, the recently capped Colombia international is certainly on the right path.
