A shrewd move
Getting the 13-cap France international could turn out to be a shrewd move for the Hammers if they go about it in the right way.
Last term, Manuel Pellegrini was unable to choose between Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku, as the former started 18 Premier League games to the Democratic Republic of Congo international’s 19.
Pellegrini’s dilemma surrounding the left-back position has recently come to an end, meaning that West Ham’s number 26 has been pushed to the periphery.
The 30-year-old has shrugged off competition from Masuaku to make the spot his own, having started 11 of West Ham’s last 12 Premier League matches.
Did he really play for us?! No West Ham fan has managed to name all of these obscure Irons signings….
By bringing in Kurzawa, Pellegrini can ensure that Cresswell still has stern competition for his place in the team going into next season, while they could make money back from Masuaku if they opt to sell him, as his contract runs until 2024.
Considering it has not been too long since Cresswell reestablished himself as the main left-back, he may not be too happy about talk around a new threat to his position.
However, from a business viewpoint and ensuring there are as many quality options as possible, this could turn out to be a shrewd move.
In other news, West Ham fans have been buzzing over their proposed striker target.
